We may find out who wins the Jonathan Drouin sweepstakes very soon.

You know, assuming the Tampa Bay Lightning actually pull the trigger on a trade.

His trade destination could be determined in the next 24 hours (or by late Friday, depending upon when you might be reading this), according to TVA’s Renaud Lavoie.

Google Translate places the St. Louis Blues as one of the most-discussed destinations, but who knows how this will shake out.

(Although the Blues had a miserable-enough Thursday that they might get that much more anxious to shake things up.)

Lavoie is far from the only journalist to discuss a possible Drouin trade; he does, however, put a tantalizing countdown on a potential deal.

To drive home the point that the Blues aren’t the only potential landing pad, consider this blurb via ESPN’s Pierre LeBrun’s rumblings blog from Wednesday:

The Sabres, meanwhile, were one of many teams scouting the Tampa Bay Lightning’s Jonathan Drouin last weekend. I don’t view the Sabres as one of the front-runners but just one of the many, many teams keeping en eye on how that plays out.

Among the many other teams that have talked about Drouin are the St. Louis Blues, Anaheim Ducks, Minnesota Wild, Ottawa Senators and Montreal Canadiens.

LeBrun notes that the Senators don’t want to give up defenseman Cody Ceci and also talks about some of the qualms league executives may have with the young forward. The full post is absolutely worth your while, especially if you’re sitting on the edge of your seat waiting for updates.

Will Drouin actually be traded? Time will tell ... and if Lavoie’s report is correct, the wait might end very soon.
