The Detroit Red Wings have placed defenseman Jakub Kindl on waivers, per TSN’s Bob McKenzie.

The 28-year-old was Detroit’s first round pick, 19th overall, in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.
He’s suited up in 271 games with the Wings, but he never developed into the player many expected him to become.
Kindl’s been a healthy scratch in 16 of Detroit’s last 22 games.
He has one year remaining on his contract at a cap hit of $2.4 million.
According to MLive.com, Red Wings GM Ken Holland has attempted to trade Kindl in the last few days, but found no takers.
“We’re going through the maneuvers we’re going to have to go through to position ourselves,” Holland told MLive.com. “If (Kindl) is claimed, I’ll be happy for him. If he’s not claimed then we’ll have to make a move.”
The move means that Kyle Quincey, who’s been out with an ankle injury, is ready to return.
Quincey won’t play in Sunday’s game against the Ducks, but he’s expected to suit up against the Kings on Monday.
