The Philadelphia Flyers have a nice winning streak going, and they can thank less-than-usual suspects.
(Although Steve Mason did grab a 20-save shutout in Philly’s 4-0 win against the New York Islanders.)
Brayden Schenn stood out in Tuesday’s 4-3 win against Montreal with a one-goal, two assist performance. Philadelphia beat Minnesota 4-3 in overtime in large part thanks to Michael Del Zotto’s two goals.
That pattern carried over this afternoon, when Matt Read responded to a recent benching with a goal and two assists.
This represents the sort of explosive performance that hasn’t been seen from Read in some time.
Last 3-point game for Read was Dec. 4, 2013 @DET

As much as this recent run is about guys producing more points than expected, one player might just be blossoming rather than merely riding a hot streak.
Sean Couturier generated a goal and an assist, furthering the argument that he might be more than just a lock-down guy.
With the change in scoring, Coots now has 12 points in last 10 games.#DefensiveSpecialist?

As this moment, the Flyers find themselves two points out of the East’s final wild card spot, and it’s a jumbled “bubble” group right now. Still, they have a more-than-decent shot as of early 2016.
