Good news for the ghost: Gostisbehere considered day-to-day after knee-on-knee hit

Flyers fans can breathe a sigh of relief.

Shayne Gostisbehere won’t suit up in today’s matinee against the Islanders, but the Flyers did get some good news on his status on Saturday morning.

The 22-year-old was hurt in a knee-on-knee collision with Wild forward Mikko Koivu in the first period of Thursday’s game.

Fortunately for the rookie, Koivu collided with his right knee and not his left knee. Gostisbehere had his left ACL repaired while playing in the AHL last season.

Losing Gostisbehere for a long period of time could’ve been devastating for Philadelphia.

Despite playing in just 23 NHL games in ’15-16, Gostisbehere leads all rookie defensemen in goals (7) and he’s tied for first in scoring with Blues rookie Colton Parayko (16).
