Whether the trade rumors are valid or not, it’s likely that a few extra eyes will be on Kerby Rychel, who was recalled by the Columbus Blue Jackets after Nick Foligno was placed on IR.

Rychel was fairly quiet in his first stint with Columbus so far this season, generating three assists in 11 games.

He’s been more productive in the AHL, however, with 20 points in 21 games.

With Foligno hurt and Ryan Johansen traded, Rychel will get a chance to shine. Whether that’s more for the Blue Jackets or other teams is to be determined.

He’s not the only young player to watch tonight, as Seth Jones will play his first home game as a member of the Blue Jackets.

Foligno’s injury is related as upper-body, and he’s “sidelined indefinitely.”

Here’s Blue Jackets GM Jarmo Kekalainen addressing the Rychel rumors.
