Report: Stars expected to announce five-year contract extension for GM Nill

The Dallas Stars and General Manager Jim Nill have reportedly agreed to a five-year contract extension, per the Dallas Morning News.

The 57-year-old is in the third year of his five-year contract, which means the new deal would keep him in Dallas through 2022-2023.

Nill has certainly left his mark on the Stars roster, as he’s acquired key players like Tyler Seguin, Jason Spezza, Antti Niemi and Patrick Sharp.

He’s a big reason why Dallas currently finds themselves near the top of the NHL standings.

Prior to joining the Stars, Nill spent almost 20 years in the Red Wings organization (15 as the assistant GM) where he won four Stanley Cups.

He also spent nine years in the league as a player with the Bruins, Canucks, Blues, Jets and Red Wings.
