Video: Flyers’ Del Zotto finishes off tic-tac-toe scoring play in OT

Michael Del Zotto played the overtime hero for the Philadelphia Flyers on Thursday.

One day after trading Vincent Lecavalier and Luke Schenn to the L.A. Kings, the Flyers nearly coughed up a valuable second point before regaining it back with a 4-3 overtime win against the Minnesota Wild.

Del Zotto scored the winner, capping off a pretty passing play between himself, Jakub Voracek and Claude Giroux with 38 seconds remaining in the three-on-three session to give Philadelphia back to back wins.

The Flyers had a two-goal lead midway through the second period, but the Wild managed to tie it up late in the third period. Minnesota’s comeback included an odd goal from Zach Parise, who was in the right spot at the right time when Philly goalie Steve Mason and defenseman Nick Schultz got crossed up with the puck behind the net. The puck came to Parise and he scored into an open net, tying the game at three goals apiece.

Philadelphia defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere left the game in the second period and did not return with a lower-body injury.
