NHL ON NBCSN: New-look Flyers look to tame the Wild in Minnesota

NBCSN will continue its coverage of the 2015-16 campaign tonight when the Minnesota Wild host the Philadelphia Flyers at 8:00 p.m. ET. If you want to watch the game online, you can do so here.

The Flyers shocked the hockey world yesterday, when they shipped Vincent Lecavalier and Luke Schenn to the Los Angeles Kings.

Philadelphia acquired young forward Jordan Weal, a third round pick and some salary cap relief (they have over $4.1 million in cap space now) from the Kings.

Weal has put up some impressive numbers in the AHL last season, as he had 69 points in 73 games during the regular season and 22 points in 19 games in the playoffs.

“This is an opportunity for me to get a fresh start, and get a couple games in a row and get some momentum,” said Weal, per Philly.com.

Despite being with the Kings from the start of the year, the 23-year-old has played in just 10 games in ’15-16. He’s been a healthy scratch in eight of Los Angeles’ last 10 contests.

The Flyers put an end to their three-game losing streak with their 4-3 win over Montreal on Tuesday night.

The Wild have been terrific at the Xcel Energy Center (14-5-1) this season.

They’re returning home after going 2-1-1 on a four-game road trip that saw them travel to St. Louis, Tampa Bay, Florida and Columbus.

Minnesota will probably be without center Mikko Koivu after he suffered an injury against the Jackets.

Koivu was taken to hospital after crashing into the boards, but he’s since been released.

It’s unclear how long he’ll be out.

On a more positive note, Zach Parise showed signs of life after going six games without a goal.

The 31-year-old picked up a hat trick against Columbus on Tuesday night.

This is the first of two meetings between these two teams.
