On Sunday, Jaden Schwartz hit the ice for the first time since suffering a broken ankle over two months ago.
The 23-year-old was hurt during a team practice on Oct. 23 after he crashed into the net during a drill.
It looks like his recovery is right on schedule.
He’s expected to return to the lineup sometime after the All-Star break (Jan. 28 to Feb. 1).
“I’m not sure where he’s at, to be honest,” coach Ken Hitchcock said, per the Post-Dispatch. “I think the projection is post All-Star break and I think we’re still assuming that.”
The Blues could use the help, as they’ve been in a small slump of late.
St. Louis has dropped three of their last four games, including a 4-1 loss in Toronto on Saturday night.
Instead of giving his team a day off on Sunday, Hitchcock decided to have them practice.
“You can’t just talk about and show video on, you have to actually practice it,” Hitchcock said. “The schedule has not allotted us the opportunity to go on the ice and practice. This is a risk today to do what we did, hoping we have the energy for (Monday).”
