The Dallas Stars will be without Valeri Nichushkin when they play the New Jersey Devils on Saturday.
Nichushkin is dealing with a lower-body injury that occurred in Thursday’s game versus the Nashville Predators, as per NHL.com, and Stars head coach Lindy Ruff decided for the 20-year-old forward to rest up Saturday. Radek Faksa will take Nichushkin’s place in the lineup.
Currently on a three-game Eastern road trip, the Stars play the New York Islanders on Sunday.
“He was doing a lot better [Saturday] and we’ll see where he’s at [Sunday at the New York Islanders],” said Ruff. “The smart thing is to keep him off.”
In 37 games, Nichushkin has four goals and 13 points. He’s also gone eight straight games without a point and 11 games without a goal.
