Berglund (shoulder) will make ’15-16 debut for Blues on Saturday

It’s been a long road to recovery for Blues forward Patrik Berglund, but on Saturday, he’ll make his ’15-16 regular season debut against Toronto.

“It’s going to be really hard to play in the beginning,” Berglund said, per stlouisblues.com. “It’s been almost eight months since I last played a game, so I’ve got to be smart, have short shifts and all that, and really focus on those types of things so I don’t hurt my team.”

The 27-year-old underwent shoulder surgery in August after aggravating an old injury during an off-season workout.

The Blues will be thrilled to get Berglund back in the lineup, but don’t expect them to give him significant ice-time right off the bat.

“He’s a guy that hasn’t played in six months, so I don’t think we’re going to thrust him into a role (right away),” GM Doug Armstrong said. “He’s a top-nine forward, he can play center ice or either wing. He’s a big body and you realize what you miss when you don’t have it. Having that size on our team is something I’m looking forward to having back in our lineup.”

Berglund had 12 goals and 27 points in 77 games last year.
