Tampa Bay Lightning prospect Brayden Point will serve as Team Canada’s captain for the upcoming World Junior Hockey Championship in Finland.

Red Wings prospect Joe Hicketts and Panthers prospect Lawson Crouse will serve as alternates.

All three players are returnees from last year’s team that won gold in Toronto, Canada.

“These three players have set a tremendous example for the rest of our team from the start of our camp,” head coach Dave Lowry said in a release. “The leadership, work ethic and attention to detail shown by Brayden, Lawson and Joe are the standard for their teammates.”

Last year, Curtis Lazar (Senators) served as the captain, while Sam Reinhart (Sabres) and Connor McDavid were the alternates.

Team Canada might be the defending champions, but they haven’t won a World Junior tournament on European soil since 2008, when they claimed gold in the Czech Republic.
