Touchdown: Capitals put up seven in win over Rangers

The New York Rangers appeared to be in control of Sunday’s game against Washington.

The Blueshirts jumped out to a 3-1 lead, as they got goals from J.T. Miller, Chris Kreider and Dan Boyle scored in the first period.

That’s when things fell apart.

The Capitals responded with four second period goals by Evgeny Kuznetsov, T.J. Oshie, Alex Ovechkin and Justin Williams. Ovechkin and Williams both scored on the power play.

Here’s Ovechkin’s go-ahead goal:

The Rangers pulled Henrik Lundqvist going into the third period and they replaced him with Magnus Hellberg (Antti Raanta’s injured).

Jason Chimera (shorthanded) and Marcus Johansson both beat Hellberg in the third period.

New York has lost three straight games and six of their last seven, while the Capitals extended their winning streak to five games.
