Capitals’ Wilson given match penalty for hit to head of Senators’ Lazar

Washington Capitals forward Tom Wilson was ejected late in the third period of Wednesday’s game versus the Ottawa Senators for what initially appeared to be a hit to the head of Curtis Lazar.

The hit occurred with 4:42 left in the final period and the Capitals leading by two goals.

Wilson, who had thrown a pair of heavy hits earlier in the game, was assessed a match penalty. A scuffle ensued after the whistle, while Lazar was attended to by a member of the Senators training staff.
