Washington Capitals forward Tom Wilson was ejected late in the third period of Wednesday’s game versus the Ottawa Senators for what initially appeared to be a hit to the head of Curtis Lazar.
The hit occurred with 4:42 left in the final period and the Capitals leading by two goals.
Wilson, who had thrown a pair of heavy hits earlier in the game, was assessed a match penalty. A scuffle ensued after the whistle, while Lazar was attended to by a member of the Senators training staff.
Chris Neil didn't like Tom Wilson's hit on Curtis Lazar, who is going for medical attention. Orlov got him as well. #CapitalsTalk

Wilson's hit was shoulder to shoulder but was blindside and came on backcheck. Puck was on Lazar's stick. Will be reprimanded. #CapitalsTalk
