Flyers forward Jakub Voracek’ scoring slump is reaching “ridiculous” territory.
After scoring 22 goals and 81 points last season, the 26-year-old has just one goal and 16 points in 30 games this year.
The Flyers have tried moving him to a different line (away from Claude Giroux), but that hasn’t worked either.
So what’s the next step?
A position change.
Voracek will move from right wing to left wing, and he’ll do so on a line with Sean Couturier and Wayne Simmonds.
“It’s going to be a new challenge and obviously a little bit different timing,” Voracek said, per Philly.com. “Just have to adjust to it and find a way to produce as a line.”
Despite a mediocre 12-12-6 record, the Flyers are just four points behind New Jersey for the final Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference.
Voracek will make his season-debut at left wing when Philadelphia hosts Carolina tonight.
He scored his only goal of the season against the ‘Canes on Nov. 14.
