A difficult day for the Pittsburgh Penguins continued with the news that defenseman Kris Letang will miss roughly two weeks due to an upper-body injury, according to reports on Saturday.

Earlier in the day, following a shootout loss to the L.A. Kings on Friday, the Penguins fired their head coach, Mike Johnston, and named Mike Sullivan as his replacement.

Letang, 28, missed Friday’s game due to the injury, which he suffered two days earlier against Colorado.

This latest injury is different than the undisclosed injury that kept Letang out of the lineup for two games in California last weekend.

In 25 games this season, Letang has one goal and 14 points. But he’s also counted upon to log heavy minutes, playing on both the penalty kill and power play, as the Penguins’ leader in ice time.
