Kris Letang keeps finding new ways to get hurt.
“He sustained another injury in the last game,” Penguins coach Mike Johnston said today. “It is different than the injury before. He won’t play tonight.”
Letang logged 22:51 of ice time in Wednesday’s victory over Colorado. He’d missed the previous two games with an undisclosed ailment.
The only thing we really know about his latest undisclosed ailment is that it’s different than the previous undisclosed ailment. There’s no timeline for his return.
Letang has actually stayed relatively healthy this season, appearing in 25 of the Penguins’ 27 games. But he only played 69 games last year, and he played even fewer, 37, the season before. He’s had typical hockey injuries like concussions and groin pulls, but then he’s also had to deal with atypical issues for a young man, like the stroke he had last year.
The Pens host the Kings tonight.
