The Philadelphia Flyers didn’t get off to a great start on Tuesday, as they found themselves down 3-1 early in the second period.
They decided to pull goalie Steve Mason and replaced him with Michal Neuvirth and that seemed to give them a spark.
Neuvirth stopped all 16 shots he faced and Philadelphia got second and third period goals from Ryan White and Claude Giroux to force overtime.
Philadelphia dominated possession and outshot the Islanders by a wide margin (46-26).
The Flyers may have been feeling good about themselves heading into the shootout, but it was Isles forward Kyle Okposo who stole the show:
Despite the win, Isles coach Jack Capuano wasn’t overly impressed with his team’s overall effort, while Flyers coach Dave Hakstol thought his team deserved a better fate:
Capuano on Jaro Halak: "We expect our players to perform at a high level. Unfortunately tonite probably 50%of our guys didn't and he did."

Hakstol: "I thought our team played a good hockey game. We deserved better tonight. ... Unfortunately we couldn't come up with 2nd point."

The Islanders have three shootout wins in their last four games.
