The Dallas Stars lost one of their key blueliners in last night’s shootout defeat to the Flames, as Jason Demers exited with an upper-body injury, and didn’t return.
Demers, who played just 12:23 before leaving, took his last shift late in the second period. It’s unclear exactly what the injury is, or how he got hurt.
The 27-year-old is a key cog on Dallas’ back end. He has four goals and 11 points through 22 games this season — second among Stars d-men in scoring, behind John Klingberg — and averages 20:30 TOI per night, third behind Klingberg and Alex Goligoski.
The Stars next play on Thursday in Vancouver, followed by a game the following night in Edmonton.
