Sharks use big third period to complete perfect six-game road trip

The San Jose Sharks didn’t make it easy on themselves, but they were able to complete a perfect 6-0-0 road trip with a 5-3 come-from-behind win over the Columbus Blue Jackets.

The Sharks were down 3-1 in the third period before they scored four unanswered goals over the last 14 minutes of the game.

Joe Pavelski got the comeback started with his goal at the 6:13 mark of the third frame.

Brent Burns tied the game just over five minutes later. Brenden Dillon scored this goal to put the Sharks ahead for good:

Pavelski added an empty netter.

It’s the first time in franchise history that the Sharks have swept a road trip longer than four games.

To recap the trip:

  1. Nov. 13: 3-2 win at Detroit
  2. Nov 14: 2-1 win (OT) at Buffalo
  3. Nov 17: 5-4 win at Boston
  4. Nov 19: 1-0 win (OT) at Philadelphia
  5. Nov 21: 3-1 win at Pittsburgh
  6. Nov 22: 5-3 win at Columbus

As you could imagine, Jackets coach John Tortorella wasn’t thrilled with his team’s performance.

Ryan Johansen scored one of Columbus’ three goals, but that still couldn’t keep him out of Tortorella’s dog house.
