Semyon Valarmov’s time on injured reserve is over.
The 27-year-old has been sidelined with a groin injury since Oct. 6 (seven games), but he’s expected to be between the pipes for Monday’s game against Winnipeg.
Reto Berra did a great job filling in for Varlamov at first, but his play faded over the last three games.
The Avs’ backup was 3-1-0 in the team’s first four games without Varlamov. He’s since been lit up for 12 goals in his last three starts (all losses).
Berra was yanked in Saturday’s 7-3 loss to Washington after allowing four goals on 11 shots.
Varlamov hasn’t been much better this season.
He has a 3-6-1 record with a 3.26 goals-against-average and a .890 save percentage.
Calvin Pickard, who’s arguably Colorado’s best option in nets, has been returned to the minors.
The 23-year-old was solid during an extended stint with the Avalanche last season and made two relief appearances while Varlamov was out.
