Ryan says ‘plan is to play’ vs. Flyers on Saturday night

Things didn’t look good for Bobby Ryan after he took a hit from Jackets defenseman David Savard on Thursday night.

Savard was originally given a match penalty for the hit, but the NHL rescinded the misconduct and small fine on Friday.

Ryan needed help getting off the ice, and many Sens fans feared the worst in regards to his status going forward.

After a few days of treatment and rest, the Sens forward says he expects to play against Philadelphia on Saturday.

“I felt really good,” Ryan told the Ottawa Sun. “We were happy with everything we did over the last 36 hours to prepare for it. We’ll have another conversation tonight, but the plan is to play.”

The 28-year-old comes into Saturday’s game having recorded at least one point in each of his last seven games. If he’s able to extend that streak by one more, he would set a new career-high.

Ryan has seven goals and 17 points in 19 games this season.
