The Detroit Red Wings placed forward Landon Ferraro on waivers earlier today.
The 24-year-old has been on injured reserve since Nov. 13 because of an ankle injury. Now that he’s ready to return, the Wings had to move someone off their roster.
“It’s a situation where he’s done a good job,” head coach Jeff Blashill told the Detroit Free Press. “But with our numbers, more forwards… we have to make a decision to try to send somebody potentially through waivers, so we decided on him.”
If Ferraro clears waivers, the Wings will send him to AHL Grand Rapids.
He has no points, seven penalty minutes and a minus-3 rating in 10 games this season.
