The season is less than two months old and Steve Mason has already had his share of ups and downs, but the Flyers will give him a fifth consecutive start in Saturday’s game against the Senators.
Mason allowed seven goals in two losses to start the year and was then forced to miss a pair of games for personal reasons.
He came back and played relatively well over a five-game stretch that saw him go 2-2-1 while allowing 13 goals during that span.
The Flyers then turned to Michal Neuvirth for five of their next six games before giving Mason this recent string of action.
“With some of the things on the personal side and injuries early in the year, he really didn’t have a chance to get into that rhythm,” said head coach Dave Hakstol. “I think this busy stretch allows him to do that.”
Craig Anderson will be in goal for Ottawa. He has a career record of 8-4-2 against the Flyers.
-Backup Anders Lindback is expected to be in goal for Arizona. The Jets will counter with Ondrej Pavelec, who has a 6-2-1 record with a 2.04 goals-against-average and a .930 save percentage in his career against the ‘Yotes.
-After Friday’s 4-0 loss to the Blue Jackets, the Predators haven’t announced their starter yet, while the Wild will give Devan Dubnyk the nod against a team he played two games for in 2013-14.
