The Ottawa Senators may have defeated the Columbus Blue Jackets on Thursday night, but they lost their second leading scorer and hottest forward in the process.
Bobby Ryan was forced to leave the game after taking a hit from Blue Jackets defenseman David Savard (above) late in the third period.
Savard was handed a boarding major and a game misconduct for the hit on Ryan.
“Bobby brings an offensive skillset that is irreplaceable,” Sens goalie Craig Anderson said after the game. “We’ll have to wait and see what’s going on with him. You hope for the best and you never like seeing guys get hurt.”
Before being injured, Ryan picked up a primary assist on one of Erik Karlsson’s second period goals and tied a career-high by recording a point in his seventh straight game.
Patrick Wiercioch also left the game with what appeared to be a concussion.
No update provided on Ryan or Wiercioch. Will see tomorrow. #Sens
