Zuccarello’s late goal helps extend Rangers’ win streak to nine

It’s impossible to win nine games in a row without getting contributions from several different players and that’s exactly what the Rangers are getting.

After Dan Boyle scored the shootout winner in Saturday’s win over Ottawa, it was Mats Zuccarello’s turn to steal the show.

Zuccarello’s goal with 54 seconds remaining in the third period gave the Rangers a 4-3 win over Toronto.

The 28-year-old also picked up assists on goals from Ryan McDonagh (second period) and Derick Brassard (third period).

This was his second three-point performance in his last three games. Zuccarello has nine goals and 18 points in 18 games this season.

New York’s winning streak has allowed them to set some new franchise records:

For the Leafs, shaky goaltending did them in tonight.

Jonathan Bernier made his return from a lower-body injury and he allowed four goals on 30 shots including this goal from center ice.

The loss puts an end to Toronto’s three-game winning streak.
