After scoring the shootout winner (above) in Saturday’s game against Ottawa, the New York Rangers will give veteran defenseman Dan Boyle the night off in Sunday’s game against Toronto.
The 39-year-old has played in 14 of New York’s 17 games while averaging 17:47 of ice time.
Resting Boyle means that young blueliner Dylan McIlrath will get some much-needed playing time. The 23-year-old has suited up in just three games in 2015-16 and hasn’t played since Nov. 6. New York selected him with the 10th pick in the 2010 draft.
The Rangers come into tonight’s game having won eight in a row. They haven’t lost in regulation since Oct. 15.
