Alex Burrows may not suit up in Monday’s game in Montreal, according to head coach Willie Desjardins.

Burrows, who’s from Pincourt, Quebec, left the Canucks because of a personal matter.

“It’s a personal reason,” said Desjardins. “He went back (to Vancouver) and it’s a good thing, so he’s just back with his family.”

There’s still a chance that Burrows could return to Montreal in time to play, but Desjardins admitted that it might be asking too much of him.

If Burrows doesn’t play, that could open the door for Hunter Shinkaruk to make his NHL debut.

The 21-year-old was Vancouver’s first round pick, 24th overall, in 2013. He has 10 goals and 13 points in 12 games with the Utica Comets of the AHL.
