Apparently “The Kid Line” hasn’t quite come of age just yet for the New York Islanders.
The team shared a bold announcement on Friday, as they “loaned” Ryan Strome to the AHL.
Looking at reactions on social media, some are flustered by even the possibility of believing this is merely a conditioning stint. Others use the situation to throw long-time hot-seat coach Jack Capuano under the bus.
Really, it could be a pivotal moment in Strome’s development, as his current deal is set to expire after 2015-16. Will this be a source of estrangement or just the “kick in the pants” that he needs?
Talked to Strome last week about needing a kick in the pants. Said he's the type of player who needs that sometimes. Just got a big kick.

Big kick, indeed.
Apparently it’s also a big slap to the wallet:
Talk about a paycut: Ryan Strome will make a pro-rata share of $70k in #AHL vs his $832,500 #NHL salary. #isles #soundtigers

This should be an intriguing situation to follow in the next week or so.
