Well, that didn’t last long.
Journeyman energy guy Rich Clune, signed by the Maple Leafs last week and promptly given his team debut, will be placed on waivers Friday afternoon, per the Toronto Star.
Clune, 28, appeared in two games for the Leafs, going scoreless while averaging around eight-and-a-half minutes per night.
His most notable moment was probably this boarding major on Rob Scuderi, which occurred during Saturday’s loss to the Penguins.
Toronto brought Clune into the mix after head coach Mike Babcock threatened changes, saying “someone’s going to find a way to wear the uniform and be good every day,” adding “different guys come and go.”
Clune had been relatively impressive during his time with the AHL Marlies, scoring five points in eight games while fighting twice.
