Chances are, the Boston Bruins will refer to this as a “lower-body injury.”
Others will just call it painful to watch.
Either way, it would be surprising to see Chris Kelly return to Tuesday’s game against the Dallas Stars after the moment above where his left leg bends in a way that just doesn’t look natural.
Kelly’s more of a heart-and-soul guy than a big on-ice difference-maker, although CSNNE.com’s Joe Haggerty believes he’ll be missed quite a bit if this is as serious as it looked.
If Chris Kelly is lost for a significant amount of time it's a major leadership blow in the Bruins dressing room. A liked, respected leader

Regardless, that looked very unpleasant.
Update: The Bruins announced that Kelly will require surgery and miss approximately six-to-eight months. Brutal.
Per Sweeney, Kelly sustained a left femur fracture in the 1st period of tonight’s B's/Stars game & was transported to Mass General Hospital
