Kuznetsov scores OT winner against Jagr-less Panthers

Evgeny Kuznetsov has been one of the great surprises in the NHL this season.

After scoring 11 goals and 37 points last year, the Caps forward already has five goals and 13 points in 10 games in 2015-16.

The 23-year-old continued producing on Saturday night, as he scored the overtime winner in Washington’s 2-1 victory over the Panthers.

Kuznetsov showed great patience on his goal, as he faked a pass to Alexander Ovechkin before taking the puck to the net himself.

Jussi Jokinen scored the Panthers’ only goal, while Jay Beagle also scored for the Capitals.

Florida was without veteran forward Jaromir Jagr. He missed his second straight game with a lower-body injury.

The Capitals have won seven of their last eight contests, while the Panthers have dropped two straight without Jagr.
