Back in September, Canucks GM Jim Benning said of Ryan Miller: “Some people look at his age, but I think he’s going to be real good for us this year.”
It’s still early, but so far Benning has been proven correct -- Miller has been very good, starting all nine games for the Canucks and registering a save percentage of .930.
With backup Jacob Markstrom still not ready to return from injury, the 35-year-old will start once again tonight in Dallas. The Canucks’ temporary backup is Richard Bachman, who may or may not get the nod tomorrow in Arizona.
Only Vancouver and Pittsburgh have used just one goalie in 2015-16. And as you’ll see below, Marc-Andre Fleury’s streak will come to an end tonight.
Antti Niemi will start for Dallas.
Elsewhere...
-- Jeff Zatkoff will make his season debut for Pittsburgh, versus Chad Johnson for Buffalo.
-- Eddie Lack will get his third start for Carolina, going up against Isles backup Thomas Greiss in Brooklyn.
-- Cory Schneider for New Jersey. Steve Mason for Philadelphia.
-- Semyon Varlamov for Colorado. Ben Bishop for Tampa Bay.
-- Frederik Andersen for Anaheim. Jake Allen for St. Louis.
-- Carey Price for Montreal. Cam Talbot for Edmonton.
-- Corey Crawford for Chicago. Michael Hutchinson for Winnipeg.
Hutchinson starting for the Jets. He's 3-0-1 vs. #Blackhawks in his career (1 SO, 1.23 GAA, .961 save pct.)
