When it rains, it pours.
The Anaheim Ducks are struggling mightily to score goals, and their outlook got a whole lot worse; Ryan Getzlaf will undergo surgery for appendicitis and the Anaheim Ducks expect him to miss 4-12 days.
(That might be the most oddly specific outlook we’ve seen in some time.)
Sportsnet’s Mike Johnson originally reported on the subject, noting that Rickard Rakell is sliding into his No. 1 spot against the Dallas Stars tonight.
Getzlaf flew back to Orange County today. Ducks(1-5-2) have game tonight at Dallas, at St. Louis on Thursday before returning home.

Anaheim’s been shut out of two straight games and five times in general this season, and those contests came with Getzlaf in the lineup.
They face a tough haul this week with the Stars tonight, the St. Louis Blues on Thursday and the Nashville Predators on Sunday.
Time will tell if this is a huge blow to the staggering team or one of those rallying cry moments.
