Ladies and gentleman, we have Connor McDavid’s next welcome to the NHL moment: suffering a gut-busting loss based on a no-goal.
He already continued his impressive scoring streak earlier in the contest with an assist, but McDavid’s would-be tying goal didn’t count, and the Los Angeles Kings ended up beating the Edmonton Oilers by a score of 3-2.
You can look at that situation from every possible angle Zapruder-film style, as many Oilers fans likely will.
Here’s a GIF of it as well:

The NHL’s handy Situation Room blog provides this explanation:
At 19:56 of the third period in the Los Angeles Kings/Edmonton Oilers game, video review was inconclusive in determining if Connor McDavid’s shot completely crossed the Kings goal line. Therefore the referee’s call on the ice stands - no goal Edmonton.
Brutal, huh?
McDavid was pretty diplomatic after the game, even if he seemed appropriately livid on the ice.

What do you think? Did the puck cross the line? Was it indeed to close to overturn a call?
Either way, the Kings’ winning streak extends to five games while the Oilers continue to take steps toward being a team that may make Los Angeles sweat on a bigger stage.
And yes, people are railing on the NHL for the situation happening:
The fact that the NHL doesn’t have goal line technology yet is pretty mind-blowing.
