Todd McLellan didn’t mince words after Friday’s 7-4 loss to the Washington Capitals.
The Oilers head coach wasn’t pleased with his team’s effort on home ice and he didn’t hide his feelings in his post-game press conference.
“We overwhelmed ourselves, tonight, with stupidity in some situations,” said McLellan. “I’m disappointed in individuals and what they brought to the rink tonight.”
Without singling anyone out, Edmonton’s bench boss made it clear that he thought some individuals weren’t putting in the necessary effort to win games at this level.
“There were some individuals that, boy, am I disappointed in,” McLellan added. “We had guys that played 18 minutes that didn’t get a shot on goal, didn’t get a hit.”
