The Toronto Maple Leafs have placed forward Tyler Bozak and defenseman Jake Gardiner on injured reserve, according to the Globe and Mail’s James Mirtle.
In a related transaction, the Leafs have called up forward Byron Froese from the AHL’s Toronto Marlies.
Bozak (lower body) was hurt last Friday in Columbus and hasn’t played since. Yesterday, he was reportedly close to returning.
If Leafs place Bozak on IR retroactively, he can actually come back to the roster in the next couple days. Doesn't mean he's out for a week.
