Mike Keenan has been fired from his job as Magnitogorsk’s head coach, TSN’s Darren Dreger reported on Saturday.
Normally, news like this wouldn’t be shocking but just yesterday, a story surfaced about Keenan possibly coaching team Russia at next year’s World Cup.
On Friday, Dreger reported that “Iron Mike” was embracing life in the KHL and that he was in line to get his Russian Citizenship (that won’t change).
Magnitogorsk decided to make the change after the club lost two games in a row. Keenan will stay with the team as an advisor, but his exact role hasn’t been determined yet.
Bizarre turn of events in KHL. After losing 2nd straight game, Mike Keenan was fired when he arrived at the arena this morning.

Keenan is unclear as to what his future with the team or league is at this point, but says he's been told his citizenship will be granted.
