Bylsma likes what he sees from Evander Kane

When the Buffalo Sabres acquired Evander Kane last February, they were hoping to get the player who scored 30 goals and 57 points in 2011-12.

The 24-year-old’s last two seasons in Winnipeg didn’t go as well

He scored 19 goals and 41 points in 63 games in 2013-14 and followed that up with 10 goals and 22 points in 37 games last year.

Now that Kane has fully recovered from the shoulder injury he suffered last season, he’s looking to bounce back in a big way.

The Sabres dropped a 6-4 decision to Columbus on Friday.

Kane was one of the few bright spots in the game, as he scored once, added five shots on goal and seven hits.

If coach Dan Bylsma’s post-game comments are any indication, it seems like Kane is ready to take the next step in his career.

“I thought Evander Kane, in the (last) 20 minutes, was a bull,” said Bylsma. “That’s the way Evander Kane needs to play.”

He may still need to find that game-to-game consistency, but there’s no doubt he will get every opportunity to produce in Buffalo.
