The San Jose Sharks have inked defenseman Jeremy Roy to an entry-level contract, according to TVA’s Renaud Lavoie.

Roy, the Sharks’ second-round pick (31st overall) in June, spent the past two seasons with the Sherbrooke Phoenix of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.

The 18-year-old, who was ranked 21st among North American prospects by Central Scouting, slipped to the second day of the NHL Draft.

“I’m taking the whole thing as motivation,” Roy told the Sharks’ site last month. “I want to show everybody that I’m worth more than a second-round pick.”

In 110 QMJHL games, the 6-foot, 188-pound blue liner has 19 goals and 87 points.
