Multiple witnesses related to Patrick Kane’s alleged rape investigation were reportedly subpoenaed to appear before a grand jury this afternoon. However, that has been postponed, according to the Buffalo News’ sources.

More from the Buffalo News:

The reason for the delay appears to involve the possibility of ongoing settlement talks between attorneys for Kane and the victim, two of the sources said.

Update: The Chicago Sun-Times has confirmed that the grand jury has been postponed, but couldn’t confirm that there’s the possibility of a settlement.

As noted earlier, a Blackhawks spokesman wasn’t sure if Kane would be attending Chicago’s training camp in light of the ongoing criminal investigation. The Chicago Tribune’s sources noted that the team has considered a number of options, including giving Kane a personal leave of absence until this situation is resolved, but the spokesman might also have been acknowledging that the matter isn’t entirely within the team’s control.

It’s not clear when the grand jury investigation will resume.
