The New Jersey Devils weren’t the only team making front office moves on Thursday.

The Florida Panthers announced Scott Luce has been promoted to the club’s director of player personnel replacing Brian Skrudland.

Luce has been with the Panthers for 13 years. He has served as the club’s director of scouting for the past five seasons. Prior to that, Luce was the Panthers’ director of amateur scouting for eight years.

“Scott has done a tremendous job leading and preparing our scouting staff for the last several seasons,” Panthers’ GM Dale Tallon said in a statement. “He possesses a wealth of hockey knowledge and is most deserving of this promotion. He will continue to oversee our scouting staff and will work closely with Director of Hockey Operations Mike Dixon and Portland Pirates General Manager Eric Joyce on all day-to-day hockey operations matters.”

Skrudland, who joined the Panthers’ organization in July 2010, didn’t have his contract renewed.

Tallon also thanked assistant coach Mark Morris for his time with the club. Morris was named the head coach of the AHL’s Charlotte Checkers on July 3.

“We would like to sincerely thank both Mark and Brian for their hard work, service and dedication to the Florida Panthers,” said Tallon. “Brian is an original Panther, who worked diligently to ensure the growth and development of several of our young prospects. We wish them both well in their future endeavors.”

The Panthers also announced that Pierre Groulx will join the club as a goalie development coach working under the direction of Robb Tallas. Groulx served as the goaltending coach of the Montreal Canadiens from 2009-13.
