Habs sign ’15 first-rounder Juulsen

2015 NHL Draft - Round One

2015 NHL Draft - Round One

Eliot J. Schechter

Montreal has inked Noah Juulsen, the club’s first-round pick (26th overall) at the 2015 NHL Entry Draft, to a three-year, entry-level deal.

Juulsen, 18, emerged as a quality offensive defenseman for WHL Everett last season, leading all Silvertips d-men in assists (43) and points (52). He was the sixth blueliner taken in this year’s draft behind Noah Hanifin (fifth overall, Carolina), Ivan Provorov (seventh, Philly), Zach Werenski (eighth, Columbus), Jakub Zboril (13th, Boston) and Thomas Chabot (18th, Ottawa).

Juulsen will almost assuredly be headed back to Everett next season, though he is currently participating in the Canadiens’ development camp and will probably be around when the club opens training camp this fall.
