It appears Flyers’ restricted free agent defenseman Michael Del Zotto is headed for arbitration.

Don Meehan and the Philadelphia Flyers had contract talks on Thursday, but TSN’s Frank Seravalli reports arbitration is an “increasing possibility”.

Del Zotto’s one-year, $1.3 million deal is set to expire next week.

The 25-year-old had a bounce back season in 2014-15 season matching a career best with 10 goals to go along with 22 assists in 64 games while averaging 21:55 night in ice time.

Del Zotto signed with Philadelphia last summer after what he called a “humbling summer” where he was not tendered a qualifying offer by the Nashville Predators making him an unrestricted free agent.

According to Generalfanager.com, the Flyers have eight defensemen under contract for the 2015-16 season with a little over $2 million in cap space to play with.
