New York Rangers prospect Pavel Buchnevich intends to remain in the KHL for the 2015-16 season.

According to Igor Eronko, Buchnevich doesn’t like his chances of making the Rangers’ lineup next season and feels another year in the KHL will be beneficial for his development.

The 20-year-old has spent the past three seasons with HC Severstal of the KHL where he had 13 goals and 17 assists in 48 games during the 2014-15 season.

Buchnevich had a goal and five assists in seven games helping Russia capture a silver medal at the 2015 world junior championship.

The 6-foot-1, 161-pound forward was the Rangers third-round selection (75th overall) at the 2013 NHL Draft.
