Pending unrestricted free agent Brad Richardson is still recovering from ankle surgery, which he had following the Vancouver Canucks’ first round loss to the Calgary Flames.

Richardson told Vancouver radio station News 1130 that he hopes to get back on the ice as part of his offseason training in mid-July.

Meanwhile contract negotiations for Richardson are currently on going.

The 30-year-old said negotiations are in the first stages, but that he is optimistic a deal will get done.

Richardson scored eight goals and 21 points in 45 games during the 2014-15 season. He missed significant time rehabbing the ankle injury, but returned to appear in five playoff games registering a minus-3 rating and 15 penalty minutes.

His two-year, $2.3 million deal is set to expire next month.
