The Dallas Stars have re-signed defenseman Patrik Nemeth to a two-year contract extension and goalie Jack Campbell to a one-year contract extension.

Nemeth, 23, was limited to 22 games with the Stars this past season, due to an arm laceration that he suffered in October.

“Patrik gives us a physical and smart player that makes good reads and has a strong net front presence,” said GM Jim Nill in a release. “After suffering such a serious injury, his drive and determination to return to action before the season ended was quite remarkable and he made a solid impact upon returning. We know he’ll be ready from day one of training camp to come in and strengthen our back end.”

Campbell, 23, has yet to develop into the goalie the Stars thought he would when they drafted him 11th overall in 2010. He spent most of last season in the AHL with Texas, registering a .907 save percentage in 35 appearances.

Nill, however, struck an optimistic tone in the release.

“Jack winning 11 out of his last 14 games last season was huge in solidifying another postseason appearance for Texas,” Nill said. “We fully expect him to build off of that success and continue his growth.”

The club did not disclose the financial terms of either contract.
