Per the New York Post, longtime Rangers GM Glen Sather won’t commit to returning to his post for next season.

Asked whether he would be returning for his 16th year as GM, or whether he had yet to make that decision, Sather replied: “Sorry, I don’t have anything to tell you.”
To the follow-up email in which The Post asked whether it would then be accurate to write that he is, in fact, undecided about his future, Sather responded: “OK.”
In the same report -- and in pretty relevant news -- the Post also says Sather, 71, hasn’t permitted assistant GM Jeff Gorton to interview for the vacant gig in Toronto, which has been open since the Leafs fired Dave Nonis in April. Gorton was pegged as a leading candidate for the job, though those rumors had cooled recently.
New York had previously shot down Boston when the Bruins tried to interview Gorton -- the job eventually went to Don Sweeney -- which lends further credence to speculation that Gorton is on the verge of taking over the head GM job with the Rangers, a title that Sather has held since 2000, making him the third longest-tenured general manager in the NHL.
As for the Toronto gig, today’s development comes one day after another rumored candidate -- Los Angeles VP of hockey ops Mike Futa -- was taken off the list, with Kings GM Dean Lombardi saying Futa isn’t going anywhere.
