Report: Dubnyk, Wild to begin contract talks this week

According to Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman, the Minnesota Wild will sit down with the agent representing goaltender Deven Dubnyk this week and begin contract talks.

Dubnyk had a fantastic second half of the season following a January trade from the Arizona Coyotes leading the Wild to a playoff spot.

The 29-year-old went 27-9-2 posting a 1.78 G.A.A. and a .936 save percentage to go along with five shutouts while appearing in 39 games for the Wild.

As a result of his solid play, Dubnyk was named a finalist for both the Masterton and Vezina Trophies.

“(Minnesota) is where I want to be. … I’m not going to look elsewhere if I don’t need to,” Dubnyk said earlier this month, adding, “We’ll do everything we can to make it happen.”

Dubnyk, who signed a one-year $800,000 deal with the Coyotes, is set to become an unrestricted free agent in July.
