The health of New York Rangers forward Mats Zuccarello is improving according to head coach Alain Vigneault.
He has not played since taking a puck to the face in Game 5 of the Rangers’ opening round series against the Pittsburgh Penguins on April 24.
“He’s day-to-day, getting better,” Vigneault told the media on Sunday morning.
Zuccarello had two assists in the first five games of the playoffs while averaging 14:35 in time on ice.
The 27-year-old had 15 goals and 34 assists in 78 regular season games this year.
The Rangers signed Zuccarello to a four-year, $18 million extension in March.
